Accidents happen. Broken computer, failed hard drive, malware attack, theft or fire… in a heartbeat, all of your precious documents, pictures and other data is lost! Don’t let that happen to you – backup your data!
Data Backups provide assurance that you will always be able to access and restore your photos, music, and files from another source. Whether you choose to back up to an external drive or a cloud-based service, or both (our recommendation), you can protect yourself from the stress and heart-break that a data loss can incur.
If you have already experienced the stress that a data loss can cause, then you already understand the importance of creating a Data Backup Plan to protect yourself from the sudden loss of your files. Data Backups can be done in a few different ways
- External hard drive or a USB stick – this is the cheapest way. All of your important files are copied onto a hard drive or flash drive that you can store somewhere else. The downside – most people forget to do backups frequently. Or worse, they leave the backup drives permanently plugged in, making the backups useless when a malfunction or virus attack happens!
- Cloud backups – all of your important files are backed up to a cloud server. There are usually redundant copies of your data so even if the server with your backup malfunctions, your data is going to be safe.
- Back up to both – this is what we recommend. While cloud backups are a great way to keep your data safe and secure, it can take a long time to restore, because you will need to download everything from the Internet.
With external hard drive backups, it’s also possible to make an image backup. This will back up your whole computer, including programs, settings, and all your files. If your computer ever malfunctions, this kind of backup can be easily restored on another computer as if nothing happened at all!
We can set up backups for you to make sure your data is protected. We can also monitor your cloud backups to make sure they are running well and on schedule – giving you the peace of mind!
